Last Saturday, the Cronulla Caringbah Sharks u14 Gold Girls rugby league team took on the Leichardt Wanderers at PointsBet Stadium in what was an absolute nail biter of a contest.
This would be the first time the teams have met this season with their only scheduled game in round 10 having to be postponed due to weather. Both teams were closely matched and this resulted in what was an epic elimination final ending with the Cronulla girls prevailing
22-20 over the Wanderers in a match for the ages.
The score-line was a true reflection of the contest, with both teams giving it everything right to the final whistle.
The Sharks will be hoping to reverse their fortunes when they take on Milperra Colts in the Grand Final after being beaten convincingly in the semi-final 2 weeks ago 32-8. Milperra will go into this weekends Grand Final as strong favourites against the Sharks who they have defeated 4 times already this season.
The u18 Gold Grand Final will be played at Belmore Sports Ground this Saturday, 27 August 2022 commencing at 1:30pm.
With the Sharks not having been able to get a win against the Colts in their last 4 starts this year it would appear at least on paper that Shire girls will have their work cut out for them in the GF.
As we know however, Grand Finals have a funny way of evening the playing field with anything being possible on the day. We wish our girls from the Shire all the very best in the big dance this Saturday. Good Luck, have fun and GO SHARKS !!!
